Kalacros come in a wide variety of colors, even though humans might consider unnatural! They vary in rarity and value to the Kalacros themselves, as well as the other inhabitants of the Oasis.
Before you Begin: This journal deals primarily with coat colors in the context of their sliders, and how to breed for them. If you're looking for information on what coat colors are allowed to use certain marking colors, that information is in the Marking Allowances journal!
Feel free to experiment with the sliders as your guide. Be careful not to make your colors too saturated, or too similar to another base coat!!
TERREAN COLORS
The terrean colors are:
Garnet (Gnt) - Amber (Amb) - Jasper (Jsp)
These colors are also called Dominant Colors which means that, regardless of parents, there will always be a chance to receive these colors in a breeding. However, these three basic colors are the building blocks to unlock all other coat colors!
Jasper and Garnet are considered the main Terrean colors, and when bred together they produce Amber, which has even more potential in breeding.
Jasper x Jasper can make Obsidian
Jasper x Garnet can make Amber & Zircon
Garnet x Garnet can make Quartz
LITHOS COLORS
LITHOS:
The Lithos colors are:
Quartz (Qtz) - Zircon (Zcn) - Obsidian (Obs)
These colors are the result of ancient Kalacros who had Melanism or Albinism, and after centuries these mutations became coat colors. These are considered the bridge between the Terrean colors and others!
Though small, there is a chance to pass these colors in breedings between two Terrean Colored parents. Now, let’s look at what they can unlock:
Lithos coats paired with the main Terrean coats can produce Sateen colors!
Quartz x Gnt/Jsp can make Citrine
Zircon x Gnt/Jsp can make Peridot
Obsidian x Gnt/Jsp can make Kyanite
Remember us mentioning that Amber has other potential in breeding? By breeding Amber to the Lithos coats, you can wind up with Aurora coat colors!!
It was found in different studies that the Amber coat preserved more genes from Aurora coats than Jasper or Garnet did, and as such made it possible to receive them in breeding with Lithos partners.
Quartz x Amb can make Amethyst
Zircon x Amb can make Malachite
Obsidian x Amb can make Tanzanite
SATEEN:
The Sateen colors are:
Citrine (Ctr) - Kyanite (Kyn) - Peridot (Pdt)
Unlike other coats, Sateen must keep within a certain range of brightness and saturation!
The box below sets out the limits for Sateen coats. Numerically, they must stay at or above a brightness of 80.
The bright coloration of Sateen coats was a way for Kalacros spreading from tropical areas to court each other, and frighten larger animals. They most often result from breeding Terrean coats with Lithos coats.
When you breed Sateen coats with Terrean coats, you have a chance to obtain Aurora colors. The chances are a bit slim, but still possible! Each Sateen matches to a particular Aurora coat when breeding with a Terrean coat. You can deduce the matchups by color similarity;
Kyanite x Terreans can make Tanzanite
Citrine x Terreans can make Amethyst
Peridot x Terreans can make Malachite
Breeding Sateen coats with Lithos coats has a chance to give all colors thus far, as they've all built up to Sateen coats.
When breeding two Sateen coats together, you have a chance to obtain Aurora coat colors due to their compatibility, but there's still also a chance to obtain Lithos, Sateen, and even Terrean coats! The exception is that, when breeding two of the same Sateen together, you'll only wind up with that color for the Sateen chance.
AURORA COLORS:
The Aurora colors are:
Amethyst (Ame) - Tanzanite (Tnz) - Malachite (Mch)
When you breed two Ancient coats together, you have a chance to obtain every other color. This is because these colors have a particular gene that allows their pups to be born with any colors. This is still the most likely to produce more Aurora coats.
If you breed a Aurora color with any other color, this same chance is present, but it's much less likely to produce Aurora coats.
